According to the studies of DORinsight, one of the research companies, a survey was conducted regarding the implementation of paid plastic bag usage in shopping since January 1, 2019. Consumers believe that making plastic bags paid will protect nature. Moreover, consumers think that different measures should also be taken to protect the environment and nature. 77% of consumers stated that recyclable products should be increased in shopping, 60% said paper packaging should be used instead of plastic in products, 57% said there should be dedicated recycling bins for residences, and 39% said digital payment receipts should be given instead of paper receipts. Additionally, according to the results, plastic bag usage has decreased.
In the online survey in which 7,073 people participated, 44% of consumers stated that they have reduced their plastic bag usage since plastic bags became paid, while 20% said they continue to use plastic bags. 20% of consumers have completely stopped using plastic bags. 55% of the survey participants stated that they use cloth bags instead of paid plastic bags, while 53% said they use existing bags from previous shopping trips. These figures show that cloth bag usage has increased compared to the past.
